A LITTLE ISLAND OF LIGHT
INIS MóR

A PLACE TO LINGER

Port Aaron House felt like a little pause on the island.

After my short flight from Galway to Inis Mór, I was welcomed by Bailey the dog and Kevin, the owner, who made me feel at home before I had even checked in.

The house was light, fresh, beautifully clean, and modern without ever feeling cold. Earthy colors, clean lines, photographs of the island, and open windows made the whole place feel calm and easy.

My room was at the end of the hall, with a huge window looking out toward Galway Bay. I left the window open and kept the sheer curtain drawn just enough to let the light in.

Very early the next morning, I woke to a soft, hazy glow beginning over the water. I stayed in bed and watched the light slowly arrive.

For a moment, I felt completely removed from everything else. On an island, with the sea outside and nowhere I needed to be. And yet I was warm, comfortable, and cocooned in a space that felt wonderfully cozy.

That feeling stayed with me more than anything else. Port Aaron House was modern, welcoming, and full of thoughtful details, but what I remember most is sitting outside in the cocoon swing, breathing the island air, and waking to that first light over Galway Bay.

I would absolutely stay here again.
