The Woolly Wanderer

THE LAND THAT INSPIRED IT

In April, I spent time wandering through Connemara National Park. The hills and mountains weren't the bright green I had imagined. It was early spring, and the landscape had a darker, earthy layer underneath the fresh growth.

It reminded me of a dark chocolate cake cookie dusted with powdered sugar. That deep charcoal earth with the pale, almost crackly layer of new growth stayed with me.

And eventually, I saw it in wool.

A LITTLE PIECE OF CONNEMARA

The wool became a handbag in those same quiet, earthy tones. And because sheep seemed to be everywhere I went in Ireland, I knew this one needed sheep.

Three of them are embroidered by hand around the outside of the bag, each with a tiny French-knot fleece.

The brass kissing clasp gives it a little old-fashioned charm, while the soft, earthy colors keep it grounded in the landscape that inspired it.

It's cozy, tactile, a little cheeky, and very much connected to where it began.

A small piece of the Connemara landscape to carry with you.

Made slowly and intentionally by hand, one stitch at a time.
