Petal & Stone

SOFTNESS BESIDE STRENGTH
Â
At Kylemore Abbey, I wandered through the walled garden and noticed the contrast everywhere.
Â
Soft pink blossoms were beginning to appear among the green.
Â
Old stone walls surrounded them.
Â
Gravel paths wound through the garden, and everything felt quiet after winter.
Â
Later, sitting in the café with a scone and something warm to drink, I kept thinking about that contrast.
The softness of the petals. The age and strength of the stone. Delicate new growth existing alongside something that had been there for generations.
Â
That became the feeling behind this little piece.
Â
PETAL & STONE
Â
I used the same soft pink wool that I used for the Kylemore pieces, paired with a darker, old-fashioned kissing clasp.
Â
The crochet is small, dense, and simple, allowing the color and texture to tell the story rather than adding too much to it.
Â
It's a little reminder that softness and strength don't have to be opposites.
Â
Sometimes they belong together.
Â
Made slowly and intentionally by hand, one stitch at a time.
