Connemara Drive

THREE COLORS, ONE ROAD
Â
Some memories are made from one particular moment. Others are made from a collection of little things that happen along the way.
Â
This one came from driving through Connemara. The landscape kept changing as I went.
Dark browns in the mountains and earth. Bright golden yellow gorse scattered across the countryside. And then the deep eggplant-purple of the colorful buildings I saw in Clifden.
Â
I found all three skeins in Recess on the same day. I knew they belonged together.
Â
THE LANDSCAPE IN WOOL
Â
I brought the three colors home and eventually combined them with leftover yarn to make this little purse.
Â
The dense crochet gives it structure and texture while allowing each color to stand out.
Â
The kissing clasp is sewn on by hand.
Three colors. Three little pieces of the landscape.
Â
One drive through Connemara.
Â
That's what I love about making from a journey.
Sometimes I don't have to choose just one thing to remember. I can carry several pieces of it forward.
Â
Made slowly and intentionally by hand, one stitch at a time.
