The Westport Breeze

A LITTLE AIR, A LITTLE COLOR

Westport stayed with me in a softer way.

There were the colorful buildings, the little shops, the coffee and ice cream, the people moving through town, and those long walks where I never really needed to be anywhere else.

I had already brought Westport home in wool. The soft gray yarn became The Stone & River, inspired by the old stone walls and the river moving through town. It became The Sheep Road, too with its little parade of hand-embroidered sheep, a memory of those unforgettable Irish traffic jams where the sheep always seemed to have the right of way.

The soft pink wool became Westport Whimsy, inspired by the pastel colors and playful feeling of the town.

But this pink wool wanted to move. So I made it into something light and airy. Something with a little puff and a little lift.

Something that felt less like a thing to carry and more like something to wrap around yourself.

THE BEAUTY OF WESTPORT

Westport had a kind of easy elegance to it.

Even on the rainy days. I remember walking through town with my umbrella, wandering for hours, looking at the colorful facades and slipping into little shops.

The next day brought more wandering, more streets, more people, more places to notice.

There was nothing hurried about it. This scarf carries some of that feeling. The soft pink wool feels like the pastel colors of Westport, while the airy stitch gives it movement and lightness.

It isn't heavy. It doesn't feel fussy. It simply has a little bit of whimsy to it.

WEAR IT YOUR WAY

It is one long, continuous loop, so you can wear it differently depending on the day.

Wrapped once, it falls long and easy around the neck. Wrapped more closely, it becomes a soft cowl. It can be arranged, twisted, or tied in different ways to change the shape and feel.

That is part of what I love about it. It doesn't tell you exactly how it wants to be worn. It leaves a little room for you and maybe that is fitting for Westport.

A place where I spent my days wandering without needing to know exactly where I was going next.

A little color. A little movement. A little softness. A little Westport.
