Clifden Cables

Some places are colorful in ways you don't expect. Around Clifden and the little villages and roads of Connemara, I kept noticing buildings painted in cheerful shades of pink, purple, blue, yellow, and green. Against the stone walls and wild landscape, those little flashes of color felt especially inviting.
Â
This fuchsia-purple tweed yarn reminded me of those buildings.
Â
For these slippers, I crocheted cables that have the look and texture of knitted stitches. The cables twist and turn across the slippers just like the back roads through Connemara. Winding one way, then another, always leading somewhere new.
They're made for the slower part of the journey.
Â
The part where you come home, pull on something warm, settle under a fluffy blanket, pick up a good book, light a candle, and let the day get quiet.
Â
These are generously sized, extra-large slippers. I wear a size 9–9½ shoe, and there is plenty of room in them. They're especially nice for someone who likes a loose, relaxed slipper or who wants to wear them over a pair of fluffy socks.
Â
A little bit of Clifden color. A little bit of Connemara winding road. And a very good excuse to slow down.

The Clifden Cable slippers bring a bit of Connemara indoors. Colorful village buildings, winding roads, and the feeling of having nowhere else you need to be.
